Strapping
Strapping machine and strapping tool range from Whittaker Packaging Solutions
A strapping machine puts a tensioned plastic or steel strap around a carton, bundle or pallet and seals it. Whittaker Packaging Solutions supplies the full range: handheld battery strapping tools for the warehouse floor, semi-automatic table-top machines for packing lines, fully automatic machines for conveyors, and heavy-duty machines for steel, brick, lumber and industrial loads.

The range
Strapping machines and tools we supply
From semi-automatic and automatic PP strapping machines to lightweight battery PP/PET tools and heavy-duty PET. Tell us what you're strapping and your daily volume and we'll match the right machine or tool to the job.
Small changes here drive big savings. Swapping a pneumatic tool for a battery tool typically halves the time per strap and removes the compressor cost. Moving from hand-strapping to a semi-auto removes a full operator station.
We specify strapping equipment for the strap and the application. Wrong strap eats seals. Wrong tension fractures the strap in transit. We get those right before we quote.
Why WPS
Why buy a strapping machine from Whittaker Packaging Solutions
Every supplier looks similar on a spec sheet, and very different once a machine has been on a wet floor for six months. We specify strapping equipment for Australian conditions: sealed against dust and moisture where it matters, with components that can be sourced or rebuilt locally rather than waiting on an overseas parts order.
We'll also tell you when you don't need a new machine. Plenty of strapping problems are bad strap, wrong tension, or worn seals on an otherwise fine tool. We service most quality competitor strapping tools and machines, so if the question is "repair or replace", you'll get an honest answer.
For battery tools, the productivity lift over pneumatic is real and quick. No compressor, no hose tangling around the pallet, no air line to drag.

Specifications
Strapping specifications, plain English first
Three things drive the decision: strap type (PP is the cheap default, PET for higher break-load or climate-sensitive loads, steel for very heavy or hot work), sealing method (friction-weld for plastic, seal-and-clip for steel), and tool vs machine (a tool goes to the load, a machine stays put and the load comes to it).
| Application | Typical recommendation |
|---|---|
| Securing pallets on the warehouse floor, low to mid volume | Battery strapping tool, PP or PET |
| Boxed goods coming off a packing line, 50-500 cartons/day | Semi-automatic table-top, PP |
| In-line cartoning, 500-plus cartons/day | Fully automatic, conveyor-integrated, PP |
| Heavy loads (timber, steel, brick, paper rolls) | Heavy duty machine, PET or steel |
| Logistics 3PL, mixed loads on pallets | Battery tool plus a semi-auto for cartons |
Choosing the right strapping equipment
Before we quote we'll ask what you're strapping, your daily throughput (average and peak), current strap width and type, required tension and seal strength, whether the load comes to the machine or the machine goes to the load, the environment, and the operator profile.
For mixed product we often quote a hybrid: a battery tool for ad-hoc work and a semi-auto for line work. Don't over-buy automation when 80 percent of the volume sits on one product profile.

Service and support for strapping equipment
We provide full service, preventative maintenance and breakdown support across South East Queensland, Toowoomba and Melbourne / VIC. Typical breakdown response is 24-48 hours during business hours, especially in our key service hubs. We service most quality competitor strapping tools and machines, so call us before you replace a tool that's misbehaving.
Battery tools benefit from a scheduled PM visit once a year. Tension drifts, jaws wear, batteries degrade. Catching that on a schedule keeps cost-per-strap down and stops a "won't seal" call mid-shift.

FAQs
Common questions
PP (polypropylene) is the everyday strap: cheap, easy to apply, suits most carton and bundle work. PET (polyester) is stronger, holds tension better through temperature changes, and is the right choice for heavier loads or loads going through climate variation. A PP strapping machine doesn't usually run PET well and vice versa, so the strap choice drives the machine choice.
