Box strapping machines from Whittaker Packaging Solutions
A box strapping machine is built around one job: tension and seal a strap around a carton, repeatably, hundreds of times a day. Whittaker Packaging Solutions supplies box strapping machines from bench-top semi-automatic units through to inline automatic arch machines, with the install, training and service to keep them running.
We size the machine to the box and the volume, not to the catalogue. If a semi-auto bench-top will do the work, we'll say so. If you've outgrown one, we'll spec the automatic.
Why WPS
Why a dedicated box strapping machine
Cartons are the bulk of what gets strapped in Australian despatch. A purpose-built box strapping machine handles them faster, more consistently and with less wear than a general-purpose unit.
A box strapping machine from Whittaker Packaging Solutions runs PP strap at the tension and seal settings that suit carton work: clean tension marks rather than cut-through edges, and seal strength that holds in transit.

Where a box strapping machine fits
Most installations land in one of three places:
End of a despatch bench.
Operator finishes the order, slides the carton across, hits the machine, moves on.
Inline after a carton sealer.
Sealed carton enters, gets strapped, exits onto a conveyor or pallet bay.
Backup behind an automatic strapper.
A bench-top unit ready to take the load if the inline goes down.
We talk through which of these applies to you before recommending a specific machine.
Bench-top vs automatic box strapping machines
The two ends of the WPS range:
Semi-automatic bench-top. Operator loops the strap around the carton by hand. Cycle time around 2 seconds. Cheaper, more flexible for varied carton sizes, ideal up to about 200 cartons per shift.
Automatic arch box strapping machine. Strap is threaded by the machine. Operator places the carton, sensor triggers the cycle. Cycle time around 1.5 seconds. Suited to higher volume and consistent carton sizes.
The crossover is roughly where one operator straps more than 250 cartons a shift alone. Below that, semi-auto wins on flexibility and cost. Above it, automatic is the better economic call.
What to look for in a box strapping machine
Five things that matter day-to-day:
Strap track. Cleanly guides the strap and resists jamming on damp or curled stock.
Heat element. Reliable seal at consistent temperature, fast swap when it wears.
Tension range. Light enough not to crush a carton, firm enough to hold.
Arch dimensions (for automatic). Match to the largest carton you regularly run, with a bit of headroom.
Footprint. Bench-tops sit on a despatch table. Automatics need clear floor and overhead space.
What's included with a new box strapping machine
Delivery, installation, commissioning and operator training. We document the tension and heat settings for your typical carton, so operators don't have to second-guess the dial.
For automatic units we also check arch size against your full carton range, so the machine doesn't struggle on a top-end SKU.
Service and breakdown coverage
Whittaker Packaging Solutions provides full service and breakdown support across South East Queensland, Toowoomba and Melbourne. Typical breakdown response is 24-48 hours during business hours, especially in our key service hubs.
We service most quality competitor box strapping machines. If yours is jamming, missing tension or producing weak seals, send us the make and model.
For Regional QLD (Roma and Bundaberg) and Northern NSW, we supply machines and stock parts, with scheduled service runs and ad-hoc breakdown attendance where feasible.
